Which movies can you watch over and over again and enjoy EVERY TIME?

There are some you can't get through because they're boring, predictable, or just too bad at many levels. Then there are those that are just enough to get by.Those that are good, but not something to write home about.Of course, there are some that are GREAT (at the time) but once you are done and sated, they're like a great night out with someone that pushed all the right buttons, and yet, that morning after, you just want to get away from them. And finally, those that you want to introduce to your parents. You tell your friends about them all the time. And can't understand why there are still people out there that have never watched them...You can recite the dialog word for word, you of course know every twist and turn and cliffhanger's outcome. And yet, your joy is still there, you will even laugh out loud shed a tear in funny or emotional moments. They are just like a good book, or someone with whom you can have conversations until dawn. They are your personal islands, your fail safe go-tos in your favorite streaming service, which you know WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!
Mine are many, some I run into like an old beloved friend you come across some times and your face lights up with happiness at the prospect of spending a little time with them. Others I have in favorited lists, so I don't forget and always keep in touch :)
Here are some (would love to see what you like and if you agree with some of mine - which of course include obligatory titles which some might find tiring over being named so many times... but that's the thing about great movies, they don't go away). I know some are not considered great by most, but we all have our guilty pleasures for our own personal reasons. The list is in no particular order, just "off the top of my head" stuff.

Some angle shooting justice for ya.

Live $220 deepstack tournament, it’s actually just been announced that casinos statewide will be closing at midnight indefinitely due to Covid. It’s already more dead than normal, 68 entries in the tourney, there are usually twice that many. $4700 or so up top IIRC, $580 for 6th, 7th is bubble.
There are 7 of us left, blinds are 4000/8000/8000. I had piles at a point but I just took a brutal beat and I’m now the shorty with 87K. I look down at AA in MP and open jam, especially thrilled because I know I’ll look tilted after just losing 2/3 of my stack on a cooler on the bubble so I’ll probably get looked up a bit lighter than normal.
Folds around to chip leader on the button, who has probably close to a million in front of him, and he throws out two 5K chips and says call, acting like he’s just trying to limp in. The dealer informs him the bet is 87K and he pulls an “oh I didn’t know” and takes his chips back and acts like he’s gonna muck his hand, and I can tell exactly what he’s trying to do here. I’ve played with him plenty. He knows I jammed. He knows the floor is going to force him to call my 87K once he announces a call. I know right away that he’s strong and trying to goad someone to jam over him from one of the blinds after giving off so much weakness. And I’m just over here licking my lips for it because I’ve got bullets and he’s fucked.
It doesn’t work though, he does have to call my jam but nobody else enters the pot, and sure enough he flips over QQ. Not the worst angle I’ve seen but it was pretty scummy and I was glad nobody fell for it.
Also of course he rivered a set and I lost and there’s no justice in this game.

Just rewatched Jackie Brown... I personally think it is Tarantino’s best movie.

Among all of Tarantino’s work, I feel like Jackie Brown always flies under the radar. After Once Upon A Time came out, I looked at lots of people ranking Tarantino films and Jackie Brown always seemed to be low. After rewatching it, I cannot understand why.
This is the only Tarantino movie with an adapted screenplay, from Elmore Leonard’s Rum Punch, and I believe the movie benefits from it. A lot of Tarantino movies to me feel like a bunch of great scenes stitched together, whereas this movie has much more of a plot consistently present. It feels a lot more oriented towards reaching an end goal.
I also love the way this movie is about old people. At its root, it’s a movie about old people falling in love. It’s something you don’t really see in A-list movies (apart from the Irishman which was also about old people). The romance between Jackie and Max Cherry always seems believable, and it truly feels like it could be each character’s last chance of finding love. Robert Forster brings a real honestly to the Max character, which adds a lot to their romance.
The acting is really good too. Everybody shines in their roles. The first time I watched this movie, I felt like De Niro was wasted. Watching it again, I thought he was great. It’s such a departure from the roles he usually played around the late 90s, coming off of Ronin, Casino, and Heat. He fits the role of a stoner lazy guy well past his prime so well in his limited screen time. His whole interaction with Melanie towards the end of the film is great. SLJ is great too, and I loved how menacing he was despite the stakes in the movie not being too high. Yeah, $500K is a lot of money, but at the end of the day, his character isn’t as big of a deal as he thinks he is.
All in all, I have almost no complaints with this movie. The pacing feels good throughout, the soundtrack is great (esp Across 110th St), the acting is great, and the dialogue still feels sharp as it is written by Tarantino. Anybody else feel this way and think it should be higher rated? I think maybe people expected something crazier or grander when this came out, as it was Tarantino’s first movie after Pulp Fiction.
Last thing: I really enjoy movies based on Elmore Leonard novels. Get Shorty with John Travolta is really good. And I really recommend Out of Sight, starring George Clooney and JLo, directed by Steven Soderbergh. That movie is so much fun and has all the hallmarks of a Soderbergh movie.

The Time I Got The Pass

A couple years ago, I was playing poker full-time during a gap year in college. I'm from Jersey (grew up like 15 minutes away from Anna, apparently - took the SAT's at her old high school) and was mainly grinding at Parx outside Philly and Borgata in AC when I wasn't playing online (thank god it's legal here, fuck Sheldon Adelson - wishing death on decrepit old Jews like Kissinger who have receded into the shadows long after their damage has been done is usually weak shit, but I'd laugh if Adelson caught one in the dome), but I was pretty active in the Central Jersey home game scene. One of my good friends was a home game dealer at the time and started working at this juicy game consisting solely of ex-convicts who met up twice a week to lose their drug money to each other. He'd gotten the gig through a connection with one of the game runners who he'd been selling stolen iPhone parts at Rutgers for and told me to drop by since they were always looking for new players. He said the game was "shady" and told me to bring as little cash as possible as there'd be a non-zero chance I got robbed but gave me no details beyond that.
I show up to the game for the first time, hosted in the upstairs of run-down chiropractic office off Route 1, and "fish out of water" doesn't quite do it justice. I'm a sandy-haired twink, 135 pounds soaking wet, and I waltz into this place where everyone has done 5+ years (verbalized by at least three of them, my friend told me pretty much everyone had a record, usually narcotics charges with some domestic abuse sprinkled in) wearing salmon shorts and a button-down. Still, everyone was very cordial, happy to see a new player. Among the cast of characters playing was one of the hosts, an ex-DI defensive tackle who wore the same barbecue sauce-stained wife beater to every game while draped in what looked like 20 pounds of diamond jewelry and rolled up each night in a different Audi A6. There was also "Shorty", a wicked nice guy who'd been wheelchair-bound for over 20 years after taking 5 shots from a Tec-9 for saving his little cousin from getting his shit pushed in (whenever he was dealt 9 5 in Hold' em, after the hand he'd go "man, '95. The year my daughter was born and the year I got shot." which I got him to elaborate on that first night). There was Bri, a woman in her late 30's with an awful weave who'd lose exactly $300 every game in quick $50 increments, always seething on her bustout hand, cursing out the dealer and occasionally throwing chips at them (didn't know why they let her back every game since she brought so little to the game, but it was a very Snot Boogie-esque moment, if you're into The Wire). The only other white person there outside of my friend was "Big D," a paunchy woman in her 40's who'd gone to jail for beating her cheating husband with a baseball bat (omg queeeeeeen slayyyyyy).
I started going most Wednesdays since the casinos were usually slow that night and the Omaha game they ran was very fat. I didn't speak much, and I was mostly known for being a "serious player" and for my ability to snarf down a penne vodka tray faster than "Big Anthony" despite having the effete physique of a John Singer Sargent portrait subject. One night, I'm a few Millers deep (people tolerate you draining thousands from their game better if you're not stone sober all the time) and they started bumping some tunes, not super common at home games but the host was in the mood for it. As I'm sitting there stimming with my chips, my ears perk up when I hear the ethereal melody of "Life's a Bitch" fade in. As an autistic backpacker proto-fantanofag whose music taste was birthed out of the annals of 2011 /mu/, all those Illmatic verses are practically etched into my hippocampus.
I start mouthing the conversation between Nas and AZ at the beginning, and Shorty sees me as I say "cause we spendin' these Jacksons, the Washingtons go to wifey, you know how that go" and tells the table "yo, look." AZ's legendary verse begins and I drill it. 'Visualizing the realism of life in actuality / fuck who's the baddest, a person's status depend on salary..." and the rest seamlessly leaks out of my grapefruit. The whole room erupts out of bewilderment that this skinny nerd just nailed such an immaculate verse, and they're saying "keep going, keep going" during the chorus. I do a clean run of Nas' oft-overlooked second verse and the host is out of his seat yelling at this point as Olu Dara's cornet gently glides us to the end of the track. He goes "let's see him do another one" and the game is de facto paused at this point (very rare as it stops the collection of rake) and turns on "The World Is Yours," very fitting as the next track on the album.
We collectively sing the chorus and then I'm solo when the first verse hits - "I sip the Dom P watchin' Gandhi 'til I'm charged, then / Writin' in my book of rhymes, all the words past the margin" powerful enough lines to carry me through the rest of it. When we get to the third verse, Shorty notices me skip a word in "I need a new nigga for this black cloud to follow / ‘Cause while it's over me it's too dark to see tomorrow" (Jesus, who hasn't felt that at some point?) and at the end of the track, gets his hand on my shoulder and gives the proclamation "anybody who can spit Nas like that can say nigga." The game restarts and I'm asked for an encore, so I do "N.Y. State of Mind", a fortunate ordering since it has by far the highest n-word density of the three. I briefly stumble over "45’s and gauges, MAC's in fact / Same niggas will catch you back-to-back, snatchin' your cracks and black," a difficult string of exact rhymes, but they're equally impressed. The light-skinned drink runner grabs me another Miller and they transition to listening to All Eyez On Me, disappointed I don't have the same proficiency in Pac.
Stopped going to the game when I went back to school. Hope they're still drinking and throwing cards around, they were some cool people.
TL; DR: I can say the n-word because the Dionysian transcends all cultural boundaries.

Journey to hell

I am 33, have got a fairly decent paying and stable job. My gambling addiction started in 2018. One night in august 2018 I was sitting at home at having a few drinks. I was bored and was randomly browsing the net. Saw a post of my local casino (in florida) which one of my friends had like and it ended up appearing on my timeline and took possibly the worst decision of my life . I decided I was getting bored what's the harm in going to casino and playing for few bucks . I called an Uber and went to the casino. Grabbed a few drinks at the bar and decided to play some slots . This is a huge casino and once you step in it is a totally different world no matter what time of day it is. I had decided to Gamble for $100 at the max. At that point of my life I absolutely had no idea about slots and what various betting levels are . Anyways sat on a random slot and started betting $6 a pop, after around 7 to 8 spins I get a bonus and the wheel stops at major which was around 3k. I hit a jackpot ! It was the first time in my life I found out that you get tax form etc for 1.2k plus wins. I was super happy and can't just describe my happiness , I don't think it was about the money but some kind of strange rush in body which was making me happy . Some kind of weird validation.
Anyways I got the money, played for around $500, had a few more drinks and went home with a cool profit of around 2500. A week later I had gone to a bar with my office colleagues and we ended up getting pretty hammered. Everyone was going back home . I took out my phone to call Uber but then thought since tomorrow is a Saturday what's the point of going home now, let's go to casino . I am already in profit zone what's the harm. Played a few slots and ended up loosing 500 bucks . On this visit I had also registered for the casino loyalty membership . Within a few days email offers starting hitting my inbox most of them were do free play. I got tempted and call me stupid or naive thought how stupid a casino will be to give 60 bucks as free play. Like a idiot I took the bait and went there and 60 went in a flash and I started putting in my money . Ended up loosing again.
To cut long story shorty this cycle just continued, what started as a one time visit soon ended up being bi weekly to then almost daily .
I can't even explain what made me go back again and keep loosing my money . On few days I did make profit but would blow it up the next day . I just kept thinking today is my lucky day and kept hitting the casino and pushing the buttons and seeing my savings disappear.
Within a year my savings were all gone. Soon I was living pay check to paycheck . Used to wait for salary to be credited and then just hit the casino and blow it off. Till around october 2019 I had little sense in my head not to let my credit card debt to increase. One fine day in October I had a strong urge to gamble, decided to take some cash using my credit card since salary day was still a week away. This became a habit and within few months i was in 16k credit card debt !
When covid hit everything closed up and I was able to pay off almost half of it and as per my planning I would have been able to clear everything in a few months and start over my life and never gamble with my own money.
Anyways addictions are not called addictions for no reason . Casinos opened last week and I just could control my self . I had planned for $100 but ended up loosing 3.8k! I took cash out 4 of my credit cards! . This happened yesterday. I can't even explain how and why I went there . Due to covid I wasn't even going to grocery stores and just online ordering and here I was in a casino ! The addiction is worse than a drug or alcohol.
Today I have taken a decision never ever ever gamble even 1 cent with my own money .I really hope I am able to make it through this time . I am a very reserved person and have really no close friends to fall back on and I think this is one of the reasons of this problem.
Anyways the reason I am posting this is just to vent out the frustration with my own stupid habits . I really hope this was the last time and I will be able to be out of this mess. Again my credit card debt has increased to 13 k and I made a plan to pay it in few months . I don't even want to mention how much money I have lost in total as it will just end up depressing me more.
To all people don't ever ever start gambling , trust me you never know when it just becomes a habit. As I said earlier it is worse than a cocaine . If you meet me outside I don't think you will be able to even guess I am a kind of a person who will have this kind of problem . So please I repeat again you might think you will not end up like me but trust me it is a just a vicious cycle. Please stay away
Again I really hope I am able to keep my promise this time .
English is not my first language so please excuse me for any errors in sentence framing.

Album of the Year 2018 #1: Drake - Scorpion

Artist: Drake

Album: Scorpion

Listen:
Apple Music
Google Play
Spotify
Tidal
Background
We really gonna do background for this album? FOR THIS ARTIST? Fine.
Initially announced in April, preceded by ‘Nice For What’ and followed roughly a month after with the less well received ‘I’m Upset’, I didn’t really know what to expect from this album, I almost thought Nice For What wasn’t even gonna be on the album until someone pointed out to me the similarities between the single artwork between it and I’m Upset. I figured God’s Plan (from the Scary Hours EP released in January) would be tacked on as a sort of bonus track ala ‘Hotline Bling’ from Views in ’16 for numbers but ultimately I didn’t have any ideas or particular expectations until the billboards went up.
Explicitly stating there were 2 sides on the album immediately said to me that instead of cutting back and forth between styles like he did on Views and More Life it would be a clean split of the softer more late night drive R&B Drizzy and the puffy chested braggadocios rappity raps Drake, of course we ended with something close, if a little fuzzier than the clean-cut I hoped it would be.
There’s a lot more that could be discussed as background: the slew of consistently great features across the year(only outmatched by J.Cole in my opinion), the whole El Hijo De MAGA saga, the record breaking on top of record breaking but we’re not here for all that shit (at least not right now) we’re here to discuss this album, so let’s get to it.
Review
As previously mentioned, after the initial billboards were posted I expected a clear-cut R&B/hip-hop type double album, for whatever reason in my mind with the R&B half first, maybe it’s because that’s where I expected the hits to be (e.g. God’s Plan, Nice For What) sprinkled throughout for maximum streams, clearly a false assumption that didn’t matter but nevertheless.
The album opens with another great Drake intro, giving a general view of his life blocked by the chip on his shoulder that for whatever reason still exists mixed with your typical Drake bragging (so much for regular life humbling him) over a masterfully crafted beat by No I.D. & 40, weaving these delicate almost playful synths (from Claude Larson’s ‘Telex’) into your super low super rumbly bass that increases its presence as the song goes.
This is the part where this shit goes off. A lot of people are less than captivated with Tay Keith’s beats and his rise to fame, but he does exactly what he does incredibly, almost akin to videogame soundtracks of old in that the main loop has to keep you drawn in and focused without distracting from the main draw, this blended with Drake’s (literal) mumbling ad libs makes for one of my favourite songs of the year, I really can’t tell you how many times I’ve played this song (as of writing this it’s 73) without thinking yeah maybe I should go listen to this shit again.
Of course, this isn’t the only ~banger~ of the rap side of the album with cuts like ‘Can’t Take A Joke’ that has Drake skating all over the beat and ‘Mob Ties’ doing his alleged best impression of Young Thug, much to the chagrin of many bootygoons around the world, talking about how it’s “too late for all that lovey dovey shit” presumably in relation to Lift Yourself, dug into more with ‘8 Out of 10’ replying almost directly to shots off Ye’s ‘No Mistakes’ from the jump with the “Too rich for who? Y’all just got rich again, who grips the mic and likes to kill their friends?” and alluding to how Kim and pretty much everyone around Kanye is gonna be playing this shit, but luckily for him Drake is now the good guy (really?) and this is as bad as it’s gonna get for him. Another outstanding beat, this time helmed by Boi-1da, very simple with a big heavy bass, almost celebratory in sound. It’s a shame this song is finished by the Plies skit clearly aimed at Pusha T, something I found hilarious at first quickly became incredibly tiresome on relisten which could perhaps be the point for the targets at hand but as a fan and frequent listener it’s an unnecessary annoyance.
Then you’ve got cuts like the incredible ‘Emotionless’ with one of my favourite samples maybe ever? I think that’s a little hyperbolic but it’s great and completely contrasts how drained and exhausted Drake sounds with life on this record, discussing the fraudulency of the world due to the effects & expectations of social media, how he still doesn’t feel like he gets the love he deserves while simultaneously breaking all the records in the world and the lack of spark existing in his music career as his idols become his peers and eventually become less than that as they expose themselves to be anything but Drake’s idealization of them. This contrasted with ‘Talk Up’ with Jay Z & DJ Paul & ‘Sandra’s Rose’ with DJ Premier, the former with DJ Paul throwing it back to Drake’s roots in Memphis with this super menacing beat & Jay actually coming through with a decent verse (we still remember Pound Cake) talking about the cornball in office and how the streets have let him down, the latter with what I think can easily be agreed as Drake’s best rapping on this record over a classic Primo beat, shows that not all is fraught in Drake’s world view of hip-hop as he steadily cements his place amongst true legends.
This half of the record finally ends with ‘Is There More’, an almost ethereal haunting beat bookended with an Aaliyah interpolation by the incredibly talented Nai Palm, this track laments of Drake’s place in the world as both an artist and a human being and almost touches on something sincerely genuine and meaningful before hurriedly transitioning to Side B for some of the most bitter music we’ve heard from him yet.
Just to get this shit out the way cause I’m not gonna talk about it outside of this I think Summer Games really might be the most offensively bad thing Drake has done maybe ever? This shit sounds like the damn Hunger Games soundtrack it is NOT GOOD and should be abolished from all streaming services and physical copies of the album. Ratchet Happy Birthday on the other hand is an eternal classic and some of the funniest shit I’ve ever heard.
Anyway, this side opens up with Peak and shortly follows that with Jaded, two of the most vitriolic and bitter songs I’ve ever heard from Drake, he’s ALWAYS in his feelings about women and he always has these relationship issues but god damn son you can’t be making stuff like this at 32, it’s not a good look! Especially to then go from these types of songs to something like ‘Nice For What’ which is almost a celebration of these powerful independent women that so starkly contrasts his distaste for the impolite leads on the previous tracks.
Nice For What was a fantastic single and I’m so happy it made the album, that New Orleans bounce vibe on it is a refreshing new twist on the Drake Formula™ (as mastered on Views) and it’s so easy to see why that and ‘In My Feelings’, another take on that sound, became huge hits, they’re infectiously catchy without ever feeling tired and the beats seem to work perfectly with Drake’s laid back lazy flow and his singing at the same time.
I think while overall I believe this half to be the weaker side, there are better collaborations on this half of the record, with songs like ‘Blue Tint’ with Future, which sonically would perhaps fit the first half more thematically sits in nicely with tracks like ‘Finesse’ and ‘That’s How You Feel’ with an extension on that opening bitterness & distrust of women causing all of his relationship issues with the ice getting thin and the relationship being either sink or swim. Then there’s ‘After Dark’, an alluring throwback with Static Major vocals from beyond the grave mixed beautifully with Ty Dolla Sign, I’m really surprised this song didn’t take off, maybe the verses are just a little too long, maybe it’s a little too horny for radio (although nowhere near as horny as ‘Final Fantasy’ Jesus fucking Christ) either way it’s a damn shame. None of these collabs quite match up to the strength and significance of a Michael Jackson feature, an insane feat that was allegedly up in the air due to the death of Joe Jackson, something that was sort of underwhelming due to the processing and more fitting the song around it than having it add on to the song (as is the issue with most posthumous material it feels like) still unimaginable that it even happened and to be real I still thoroughly enjoy the song.
Finally we come to March 14, the thing that set it all off, the end of a partnership with one of the other biggest activewear companies in the world (and an alleged end to a campaign exclusively to show off his son which is a whole mess honestly) only to end up going back to the one he just left, the end of any hope of a collaboration between one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing cause Glow was horrendous) and the opening of new doors to old friends, but more importantly than any of that hopefully the beginning of a better Drake, at least as a man and maybe (hopefully) reflected in his art.
Favourite Lyrics
You niggas pop mollies, my Malis pop niggas
House on both coasts, but I live on the charts
I have tea with the stars, and I swim with sharks
and I see in the dark, wasn’t this cold at the start
  • Survival
Back and forth to Italy, my comment section killing me
I swear I get so passionate, y’all do not know the half of it
I grew up with the Reps Up boys, we crashin it and splashin it
And when I say they crashin it I do not mean a accident
  • Can’t Take A Joke
Niggas scared to come toward us, gotta run from us
Louisville hush money for my young gunners
Rick Pitino, I take em to strip clubs and casinos
Stack of c-notes, get all of you niggas scratched like Primo
Worms, I just opened up a can of those
My mother had a flower shop but I was Sandra’s rose
Two girls that I rope like Indiana Jones
I make them hoes walk together like I’m Amber Rose
  • Sandra’s Rose
Your shorty was bent, she wanted to vent, I promise it fell in my lap
My money is young, my problems are old, I promise I’m bridging the gap
You know what I’m sayin
  • Talk Up
Still I rise, Maya Angelou vibes
When life coming at you from all angles and sides
And they don’t wanna see that you smiling from inside
It really boils down to how you plan to survive
Houston women I wine & dine and take to the house
My moral compass is janky, it breaks in the South
  • Is There More
I used to challenge my parents on every album
Now I’m embarrassed to tell em I’m a co-parent
Always promised a family unit
I wanted it to be different because I’ve been through it
But this is the harsh truth now
And fairy tales are saved for the bedtime stories I tell you now
I promise if I’m not dead then I’m dedicated
This the first positive DNA we ever celebrated
I can’t forget the looks on their faces
October baby for irony’s sake, of course
I got this 11 tatted on me for somebody now it’s yours
And believe me, I can’t wait to get a hundred more
Sorry I’m venting, tryna cover ground
They said that in two weeks you’re supposed to come in town
Hopefully by the time you hear this me and your mother will have come around
Instead of always cutting each other down
God willing
I got a good feeling you got a good spirit
We’ll talk more when you hear this

Talking Points
  • I feel like asking where do you want Drake to go is moot at this point, but with this new deal do you expect the album rollouts/content to be different? If yes, how so?
  • With the firm cementation of his crossover superstardom with this record (as if it wasn’t already) would you accept Drake having the help of writers (provided he credits them ala Kanye or Beyonce) for the potential of better music?
  • Do you think Drake knows how condoms work?
  • One of the most interesting aspects of this album is how out of his regular bag he went with producers, with some incredible pulls like Oogiemane and DJ Premier, what’s your dream production team for the next inevitable Drake hit?

Now, I'm been dallying for a while, but Really!

As I was walking through the desert one day, in... Coming out from Hoover Dam, Victor pops up.
Long story short - I started Dead Money @ lvl 5, my pc went tits up, I awarded myself stuff as consolation , did Honest Hearts and am now roaming the wasteland.
Towing my entourage out of the Dam, Victor pops up. "Now yall better be gettin' back to that there casino". Mr House seems to be in a hurry...
Mods? FOOK, WMX, Lightning - enhancement to environment mostly. And a Shorty 870. Props to the mod maker!

In the last 2 years I've watched 300 movies. Here is my ranking list.

Two friends and I decided to watch 300 movies corresponding to the 300 months from my birth month to my 25th birthday (June 1994 to May 2019). We watched the highest grossing film released in the United States for each month barring a few exceptions such as re-releases or gory R-rated horror movies (instead we replaced those slots with movies in series that were not the highest grossing, but we felt were important to understand plot stuff).
We also recorded discussions for each movie and put them on Youtube. The playlist for all of these discussions as well as an intro video detailing the specifics of what we did a little bit more are found here. It's best to treat them like podcasts.

If you want specifics as to why a movie is ranked where it is, you can watch the corresponding video in the playlist linked above or you can ask.
Here is a spreadsheet showing my rankings as well as my two friends' rankings if you're curious. The second tab is a bonus list of movies we plan to see in the future, so if there's anything you think we should check out, check to see if it's on that list. If not, let me know.

So far conspiracy feels like Trailer Park girls.

Edit: Replace Names As Needed
It has the customer bonuses at 10 20 30 40 50 100 like tpg did, as well as the cash in the trunks that open the next business. Too bad the greasy money subreddit no longer has all the sheets in a single doc because of how slow it loaded. Maybe we can borrow sheets as they show up there and have them on hand in case of a future event using similar tactics? That way at least there's a bit of a structure and the numbers and names can be edited as needed. I only recognized this quickly because tpg did happen sometime earlier this month.
If i remember correctly, the winning combo was 2/3/2 marg 6 casino 4. The 2/3/2 is important cause the middle character is x3 instead of x2. Which is Shorty in this event.
So iirc itll be Floyd 2, Dave 2, Shorty 3, Hydro 4, Solstice 6. And the business before had to be upgraded to business 3/character 4 (So bob's bowls and whoever will run it) but the other three businesses you only need to upgrade the characters enough to automate.
I'm sorry but I don't remember how many customers were needed. I think it's either 450 or 650.
Thank goodness one of the advantages is ads give 30 currency instead of 15.

I have compiled all the data from this sub and broken down who is out and who is still in play, I will update this list daily until the lineup is released.

Edit 4/4: The lineup has dropped, bold denotes acts playing
This is a list of acts that are potentially in and are most certainly out for OSLs 2017, I mostly stuck to notable names so that I only had to turn over hundreds of rocks rather than thousands. I intend to update this list via edit from now until the lineup drop (within 30 days at this point I should think). If you want to add someone to this list just comment below and I will modify the list and credit your handle next to the edit. Due to my obsession with Vocal Sampling, I put together an extensive list of the different types of Vocal Manipulation being used right now. I'm hoping this can equate to a helpful "How To" discussion thread regarding vocal sampling

Originally posted this as a comment to help someone in a thread earlier, but decided others might be interested as well.
Vocal sampling & vocal manipulation has always been one of my primary focuses in music and what I would consider my biggest strength as a producer. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on how most of these sounds are made, and hope this thread can be a place to openly ask questions and discuss everything regarding "Vocal Manipulation and Vocal Sampling".
Below I have broken down the majority of modern day Vocal Manipulation into 6 different categories to make it easier to discuss and differentiate between each other.
Each of the 6 groups have a list of songs under the groups description to give you a variety of examples.
Each of the songs link to either YouTube or SoundCloud at the moment just before the vocal sample begins.
I would recommend viewing this page with an adblock as both YouTube and SoundCloud usually have ads on their content that you'll have to sit through!
Vocal Sample Type #1:
Examples of Vocal Leads developed around short vocal chops and manipulated vocal vox's:
First Example: Kiiara - Gold
Second Example: DJ Snake & AlunaGeorge - You Know You Like It
Third Example: Selena Gomez - Good For You (NEBBRA Remix)
Fourth Example: The Chainsmokers - Roses
Vocal Sample Type #2:
These are some examples of vocal manipulation that the lyrics and actual words being sung are still understandable in the final mix:
First Example: Miike Snow - Genghis Khan (Yacht Club. Remix)
Second Example: Cashmere Cat - With Me (0:57 into the song)
Third Example: The XX - On Hold
Fourth Example: James Blake & Bon Iver - I Need A Forest Fire
Vocal Sample Type #3:
If you are looking for hard and HEAVILY altered vocal ideas, these examples are made around quickly pulsed and rhythmic based modulation:
First Example: Disclosure - Latch (Harlo Remix)
Second Example: Mayhem - Brick Squad Anthem
Vocal Sample Type #4:
If you're interested in creating Gliding-Vocal-Synth-Leads that sound like the vocal is being seamlessly bent from note to note:
First Example: Major Lazer - Lean On
Second Example: Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb Remix)
Third Example: DJ Snake - Turn Down For What
Fourth Example: Justin Bieber & DJ Snake - Let Me Love You
Vocal Sample Type #5:
This style of vocal manipulation is somewhat a mix of what I had listed as Sample Type #1 and Sample Type #4. All of these are basically a mixture of vocal chops and vocal glides - both intertwining to create a vocal Lead:
First Example: Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend (Seeb remix)
Second Example: Tungevaag, Raaban, & Isac Elliot - Beast
Third Example: Bipolar Sunshine & DJ Snake - Middle
Fourth Example: Ra Ra Riot - Water (Harlo Remix)
Fifth Example: Flume - Sleepless
Vocal Sample Type #6:
I decided it would be a good idea to throw together a section based around hip hop production. These are some examples of vocal manipulation being used to create hip hop/rap instrumentals. I have also included the sample for each instrumental under each song:

First Example: Drake - Draft Day
SAMPLE: Lauryn Hill - Doo-Wop (That Thing)

Second Example: Claims Casino - I'm God
SAMPLE: Imogen Heap - Just for Now

Third Example: J. Cole - Deja Vu
SAMPLE: Kp & Envyi - Shorty Swing My Way

Fourth Example: Azizi Gibson - Toast

Fifth Example: Wiz Khalifa - Phone Numbers
SAMPLE: Queen - We Are The Champions
